Candidate Statement

I am excited to announce my candidacy for a seat at the Hopkinton Board of Health. I have over 16 years of healthcare experience. I am currently a Manager of Quality & Accreditation at a Health Plan. I manage the Quality Department and health care accreditations of the organization, which encompasses all departments and compliance of their policies and programs. I specialize in health care quality, compliance, policy, and management of health care programs and identify and address gaps in health care quality of delivery and services and build improvement programs to reduce those gaps. I have two master’s degrees in health care and one of them is in Public Health, where I also learned to manage and coordinate public health programs and address disparity and create quality improvement programs to address the gap.

I have briefly served at Hopkinton Board of Health before, in a vacated seat. I currently serve at the Veterans Celebrations Committee in town. I also served in Hopkinton Cultural Council and currently on the Hopkinton Center for the Arts Diversity and Equity Board. I am also actively involved in various other community and state commissions and boards.

Hopkinton is currently served by an excellent Health Department and Board of Health, and if given the opportunity, I would be honored to join the board. COVID has raised awareness of just one aspect of the vital work of public health, but there is so much more that goes into protecting and promoting community health.

Hopkinton is growing fast and becoming a diverse community and frequently lands on “safest places to live” lists. To stay the best, we must continue to work for the health and wellbeing of all our residents. That means we must identify the ever-evolving needs and challenges faced by our residents, and tailor programs to their needs, so that everyone—including our most vulnerable citizens—have access to the information, services, programs, and community resources that will help keep them informed, give them the right tools to empower them in making the right decision about their own health and keep them healthier. In my humble opinion, this is the core work of public health.

I can contribute and add value to the current board and town in general in a few ways:

  • Bring my healthcare administrative, policy making and data interpretation experience to examine and address delivery and service quality enhancement, address gap and health disparities, where applicable.
  • Collaborate, support, and listen to the current town health department and its employees, as they are the experts and the knowledge base.
  • Support mental health and other health promotion programs that will benefit our entire community.

My family has called Hopkinton home for more than 10 years now. Our kids grew up here. It has been wonderful to raise our family here and to enjoy a very active and engaged community. Between my husband and I, we have been involved with Hopkinton Town government, for almost 10 years now and I sincerely hope that we have served and if given the opportunity, will continue to serve Hopkinton respectfully and honorably.

I believe that at this moment, my healthcare expertise and experience, makes me the right candidate for Hopkinton Board of Health. I humbly ask for your support and your vote on May 15th, 2023.
